NK Police Log: Woman Allegedly Sprays Water at DCYF Worker

The following information was supplied by the North Kingstown Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Venessa Lynn Williams, 26, of 20 Merrill Ln. Apt. 201 in North Kingstown was arrested May 19 at 12:52 p.m. on charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct and was cited for due by drivers.

On May 1, Williams was allegedly intoxicated at her Crossroads apartment during the incident, in which she reportedly sprayed a DCYF investigator. Child services was called after management at Crossroads responded to Williams’ apartment twice that day. The first time, they allegedly found that water was flooding into the apartment below after Williams’ children played with the faucet spray hose on the kitchen sink while Williams slept. They returned a short time later after a neighbor complained about loud music coming from the apartment. Both times, Crossroads staff reportedly stated that Williams smelled of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated, slurring her words and displaying rapid mood swings.

When the DCYF investigator arrived, Williams allegedly became more agitated and refused to answer questions about what happened that afternoon. At one point, Williams allegedly grabbed the sink sprayer and began to spray the DCYF investigator, yelling, “This is what [expletive] happened, [expletive]!”

Williams then grabbed a case of Mike’s Wicked Ice Tea and got into her minivan, according to reports. While leaving the scene, she almost allegedly hit the DCYF investigator. Williams children were not present as a family member had taken custody of them prior to DCYF’s arrival.

The following day, Williams gave her statement to the North Kingstown police and denied being drunk, though she did allegedly admit to drinking alcohol the night before and said she “woke up smelling like it.” Following other statements from witnesses, police completed a warrant for Williams’ arrest and took her into custody on May 19.

Ex-Girlfriend Charged With Breaking-and-Entering, Vehicle Theft

Alison L. Burt, 21, of 50 Jefferson Street, Apt. 1 in Pawtucket was arrested May 19 at 5:20 p.m. on felony charges of breaking and entering and domestic larceny of more than $1,500.

On May 18, a Harrison Street resident returned home from breakfast to find his car missing, his front door open and, upon peering inside the window, that his television has been stolen. He and a friend called police, who discovered broken glass on the kitchen floor where the robber entered the home.

According to Burt, the following items were stolen from his home: a 50-inch Magnavox television, a power washer, a paintball gun, prescription medication, a BluRay player, assorted jewelry and more – totaling $5,335 worth of items.

The man believed his ex-girlfriend, Alison Burt, had broken into his home and taken the car and aforementioned items. A neighbor allegedly told police he saw Burt drive the van behind the residence around 10:30 a.m. that morning, but did not see her drive away.

Police put out a bulletin regarding the stolen car and, later that day, were contacted by Providence police who found the vehicle. According to reports, the Providence Police Department was charging Burt with possession of Oxycontin, which she allegedly stole from her ex-boyfriend’s house. Charges were also filed against one of Burt’s family members for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
