NK Police Log: Roommate Rumbles

Man Allegedly Assaults Tenant

John Nathan McCarthy, 27, of 80 Congdon Ave. in North Kingstown was arrested Nov. 25 at 10:58 p.m. on charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct.

McCarthy allegedly assaulted his roommate after he tried to kick the man out of his house. The victim had reportedly been renting a room for McCarthy for several months and, the week prior to the assault, McCarthy had made a comment insinuating that he wanted the man to move out. According to reports, McCarthy told his roommate he better get comfortable with carrying his luggage while the two were spending a few days in Nantucket on vacation. Days later when the roommate returned to the apartment, McCarthy reportedly gave him 30 minutes to pack up his belongings and leave. When the man refused, McCarthy allegedly attacked him.

Hours later, the victim went to the police station to report the incident. According to police, he had fresh bruising on his forehead. Later that night, McCarthy turned himself in.

Woman Violates Restraining Order at Farmers' Market

 Mary Conway, 62, of 2 Atlantis Drive in Charlestown was arrested Nov. 29 at 11:47 a.m. on charges of violating a restraining order.

Conway allegedly came into contact with a family member who was protected by a restraining order back in October. According to reports, Conway approached the family member at the farmers’ market at Casey Farm. On Nov. 29, Conway turned herself in to the police department.

Tenant Pokes Landlord in Face 

Steven Ray Montgomery, 38, of 94 Grant Drive in North Kingstown was arrested Nov. 29 at 12:40 p.m. on charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct.

Montgomery assaulted a family member, who was also is landlord, after he was served an eviction notice. According to the victim, Montgomery “got up in his face” and began threatening to kill him, then began to shove him and poke him in the face.
