The following information was supplied by the North Kingstown Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Light Switch Prompts Roommate Assault
William Barry Cornell, 67, of 6101 Post Rd., Apt. 48 in North Kingstown was arrested Aug. 14 at 9:10 p.m. on charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct.
According to reports, the altercation began after Cornell failed to turn off a light while doing laundry. According to Cornell, his roommate became furious and tried getting him to fight, yelling “Come on, boy!” repeatedly. However, according to the roommate Cornell was the one who went “crazy” after the roommate turned the light off himself. The victim told police that Cornell rushed him and yelled, “You rotten [expletive], leave that light on!” and punched him in the shoulder, according to reports. Cornell also allegedly hit the man in the jaw with his forearm, causing him to fall to the ground.
From Dancing to Headlocks
Caroline Marie Henley, 30, of 42 Penn St., Apt. 4 in Providence and Tamika Lee Quinonez, 25, of 8 Merill Ln., Apt. 401 in North Kingstown were arrested Aug. 15 at midnight on charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct. Luz Elida Quinonez, 27, of 9 Tanner St., Apt. 1 in Providence was also arrested on charges of vandalism and disorderly conduct.
According to reports, the two women and another woman were partying in the apartment when the assault began. According to a witness, the two women were drinking alcohol and began dancing. When the other woman returned from the bathroom, the women allegedly had each other in headlocks and began to further assault one another. The witness escorted Quinonez out of the party after allegedly breaking up the fight.
The woman then began to clean up her apartment following the altercation. While bringing out a chair – that had been broken during the fight – to a dumpster, the woman heard Henley’s daughter yelling her name from the apartment, according to reports. The woman ran back to her apartment to find that Quinonez had returned and was hitting Henly in the head, and once again broke apart the fight and sent Quinonez away, according to reports.
Half an hour later, Quinonez allegedly returned with her sister who began to pound on the door – damaging it – but neither Henley nor the other woman opened the door.
