NK Police Log: An Odd Case of Indecent Exposure at Kohl's

The following information was supplied by the North Kingstown Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Indecent Exposure Allegedly Caused By Itchiness

An employee at Kohl’s in North Kingstown called police to report a Chinese man was behind a display in the men’s department and appeared to be masturbating. The man was still in the store when police arrived a short time later.

Police took the 31-year-old man into the store’s office to talk to him and, once inside, the man allegedly began to sob and fell to his knees. He also reportedly began bowing to one of the officers and started to slap himself, apologizing and begging the officer for forgiveness.

Due to the fact that the man did not speak English, police called Pagoda Inn for a translator. Over the phone, the translator was able to relay that the man admitted to exposing himself in the store, but denied masturbating. According to reports, he said the motion they saw on the surveillance cameras was not masturbation but due to extreme itchiness in this genital area.

Kohl’s chose not to pursue charges against the man. According to police, the man works at Senesco and is in the US on a work visa until 2014.

Woman Allegedly Admits to Punching Brother

Melissa Rene Morrison, 25, of 151 Knollwood Circle in North Kingstown was arrested March 4 at 9:47 p.m. on charges of domestic assault and disorderly conduct.

Morrison allegedly punched her brother in the face before leaving the residence. Police found her leaving the neighborhood and pulled her over. During the stop, she allegedly told police she had punched her brother in the head and only left the house because she didn’t want police there.

Ronald Leo Chabot, 45, of 6101 Post Rd., Unit 92 in North Kingstown was arrested March 6 at 11:25 a.m. on a Superior Court bench warrant.

RI unemployment rate is about the highest in the Country. This guy has a work visa and employed at the Senesco ship building company in North Kingstown which is probably getting state tax credits for training employees.

Confucious say, “give man enough welfare to live on and he will never work”

I guess it is in the bests of everyone that the "indecent" flap in Kohls just fades away. The thing that impressed me was the ingenuity of our local police officers to use the staff at The Pagoda Inn for translation. As a fan of reciprocity, I will certainly keep them in mind when hankering for some Asian cuisine, but meanwhile- good teamwork!

Curtiss dont be so negative. I think this worked because we're still a community. The family who own the Pagoda have been in NK forever, fed most of us, and run a great restaurant. Their help here for local officers was no different than if they posted a animal rescue poster in the entryway. It was just a phone call.

Why are we giving Chinese citizens work visas when we don't have enough jobs for American citizens!? We need to hand out less foreign work visas and less welfare!
