NK Man Appearing on 'Millionaire' Wednesday Morning

North Kingstown resident and Virginia Tech student Matthew Dolan is appearing on "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire" Wednesday morning.

One North Kingstown resident has a chance at becoming a millionaire. North Kingstown resident Matthew Dolan will appear on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. on ABC's Channel 6.

The 24-year-old Dolan graduated from North Kingstown High School in 2006 and from the University of Rhode Island in 2011. He is currently pursuing his MBA at Virginia Tech.

Dolan actually filmed the segment for "Millionaire" back in October, but has had to keep mum about how much he won. (Sorry, we're not giving it away, either. You'll have to watch it to find out.)

Dolan's road to "Millionaire" actually began last summer as he studied for his CPA exam. While watching "Millionaire," he saw the program was holding auditions and decided to have a go of it. After rounds of interviews and multiple choice exams, Dolan finally got the call that he was chosen to appear on the show in September.

"Everyone was pretty psyched when I got it," said Dolan. "Before that, my parents were very skeptical when I was trying out."

While at the ABC studios, Dolan sighted a few celebrities – including Elizabeth Hasselbeck and Joey Fatone, along with their respective posses.

Dolan had his own posse: about 10 friends and family joined him on NYC for the filming. Unfortunately, only one was able to actually see Dolan's segment filmed.

"There was 15 of us filming that day and 13 went and this other guy and I didn't go," said Dolan. "So we had to film the following day."

Only one member of Dolan's posse was able to stay to see him compete – his mother, North Kingstown Town Council President Elizabeth Dolan.

Though he can't disclose how much he won, he was able to disclose what he plans to do with his winnings. Dolan said the prize money will go toward his trip to Europe this summer after he graduates from Virginia Tech.
