Although it's early in the game, some preliminary weather models are projecting that New England will get more snow this week.
First, initial projections are predicting that Rhode Island could get 2 to 4 inches Wednesday into Thursday as a smaller system makes its way across the Northeast. More aggressive models project 6 to 8 inches.
Unfortunately, that's not all. Another major storm system, currently brewing in the Pacific Northwest, could be heading straight toward New England this weekend. Cold air from Canada is expected to plunge into the storm system and could hit the Northeast or bypass the area and head out to sea.
Earliest estimates have the storm hitting Rhode Island Sunday or Sunday night. This storm could pack more of a punch than the midweek storm, but current forecasts are very uncertain at this time.

Although it's alway good to be prepared I can't help wondering if you're getting too much information from the Weather Channel which always hypes up *ALL* storms to the max because it gives them better ratings/web hits.
The weather channel has a big splashy headline about the possibility of new storms this week when even their own models are currently predicting the likelihood at around 20%.

I looked at three different sources for this article – the Weather Channel, AccuWeather and the National Weather Service. All three believe it's likely we'll see more snow this week.

I don't get where the weather channel has to name winter storms. What's the point? It appears to be a media thing. I noticed the local forecasters don't use the name either.

this is off topic. but can someone tell me what that annoying foghorn is in the bay everytime it's foggy or snowing. i mean what's the purpose of that thing except to keep us up at night in the north Quidnessett area. with GPS and radar what stupid captain navigates by foghorn.
