UPDATED: Mail-In Ballot Counts Won't Be Released Until Thursday Afternoon

The Board of Elections is still counting mail-in ballots.

North Kingstown is still awaiting the totals from approximately 1,100 mail-in ballots to determine the final make-up of both its town council and school committee.

According to the State Board of Elections, the results of the counts from mail-in ballots across Rhode Island will not be released until Thursday afternoon.

These 1,100 or so ballots will be critical to determining the final configuration of the North Kingstown School Committee and Town Council. For town council, a mere 66 votes separate the fourth, fifth and sixth place vote-getters. Currently, Republican Carol Hueston holds the final and fifth seat by only six votes above Independent Colin O'Sullivan. For school committee, Democrat Lynda Avanzato holds the third and final seat by 135 votes above Republican Augustine Manocchia.

Check back for updates and the final results from the 2012 North Kingstown Election once the mail-in ballots have been tallied.

Still waiting. Will post as soon as I know.
State Board of Elections said they'd release the final results by end of day today, so we shall see.

Samantha - Do you know how they process these mail-ins? It doesn't seem like it would be too hard to process 1100, especially if they are using scanners.

The State Board of Elections processes mail ballots. There's a lag on these ballots across the whole state, not just NK. Word is they're processing upwards of 20,000 mail-in ballots. I don't know the process per se, but I know they have to make sure the ballots are certified, which probably adds more time on to the whole thing.

I bet you'll be ready for a couple of days off after all this prolonged election misery, Samantha.
