Ehrhardt Still Winner of Primary Race Following Recount

House District 32 was among six other races that underwent a recount to see no changes.

It will be incumbent State Rep. Laurence Ehrhardt heading to the general election this November for House District 32 following a recount of last week's primary vote.

Republican challenger Sharon Gamba requested the recount, along with several other General Assembly candidates, in her primary race for District 32 after losing by only 16 votes. All except one recount scheduled on Monday saw no changes to the Sept. 11 outcomes.

The Board of Elections, which conducts the recounts, was held up for most of the afternoon attempting to reconcile a recount of Pawtucket's House District 58 which resulted in a tied vote and a missing ballot. After four vote tallies, all turning up varying results, the race is still in limbo. The Board will meet on Wednesday to consider next steps.

Though the vote tallies have not been publicized yet (check back Tuesday), Board of Elections Executive Director Robert Kando said that Ehrhardt is still the winner. He will go on to face Democratic challenger Robert Craven in November.

Check back Tuesday for the final vote tally from Monday's recount.
