Taking shelter from the incoming winter, the Coastal Growers' Market has switched locations for the season from its summer location at Casey Farm in Saunderstown to the Lafayette Mill at 650 Ten Rod Road as of November 6. Despite the seasonal slowdown of herbaceous growth, the market offers a cornucopia of local produce and other goods just in time for the holidays. One can find produce such as Swiss Chard, an assortment of vegetables, apples, apple dumplings, pumpkin pie, even wool blankets and clothing. Market goers will even find a selection of hydroponically grown greens to help balance out local palates during the winter off-growing season.

Some unique items browsers might find include Torrone from The Chocolate Delicacy made with local honey, Thanksgiving turkeys from Pat's Poultry, local pesto from Besto Pesto, and Crabapple Sorbet with Somerset Cider Brandy from Susanna's Ice Cream. Stop by the Coastal Growers' Market every Saturday through April 23, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to find out how you can stay fresh and local through the winter season.
