5 Things: Allie's, Pet Refuge & Jeff Monica

Five things to know for Oct. 6.

1.  Allie's Tack & Feed is holding its 2nd Annual Animal Appreciation Day today. Stop by the shop Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a petting zoo, carriage rides, pony rides, food and more.

2.  Head over to the high school today for the 10th Annual Jeff Monica Memorial Alumni Soccer Games, held at the school's athletic complex. The NKHS varsity girls will play at 2 p.m., followed by the boys at 4 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for the Jeff Monica Scholarship Fund in memory of Jeff Monica who died in 2003 following a car accident. Tickets are $4; $1 for students.

3.  The Pet Refuge is holding a silent auction at Cold Spring Community Center today from 5 to 8 p.m. Proceeds from the auction go directly to benefit homeless and abandoned animals. Learn more here.

4.  Tomorrow is your last chance to register to vote for the general election next month. If you've never voted before or if you've moved since the last election, you must register by tomorrow. Here's a list of places where you can register last-minute.

5.  Today: a slight chance of showers in the afternoon with otherwise mostly sunny skies. Tonight: a chance of showers with partly cloudy skies and lows around 48. Tomorrow: a chance of rain with mostly cloudy skies and highs near 58.
