Karen G. Coughlin, 50, of North Kingstown died peacefully at home on Monday, October 26, 2010. Born in Dayton, OH, she was a daughter of the late Richard H. Petty and Beverly A. (Borden) Petty.

Karen worked as a medical office assistant in various offices. She loved spending time with her two children, decorating for holidays, and was a lover of animals.

She leaves her two children: Daniel J. Coughlin of Texas and Meghan A. Coughlin of North Kingstown. She was the loving sister of Anne P. Shoener of North Kingstown, Richard H. Petty, Jr. and his wife Karen of Summerville, South Carolina, Kenneth E. Petty of Port Charlotte, FL, and Nathaniel J. Petty of West Greenwich, RI. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Her Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated on Friday, October 29, 2010 at 10:00 am in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 55 Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery, Wickford. Calling Hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to The North Kingstown-Exeter Animal Protection League, 500 Stony Lane, North Kingstown, RI 02852 would be appreciated.
