Help Find Zorro

Have you seen this dog?

Zorro was recently rescued from a puppymill and was staying with a foster family in North Kingstown when he slipped his harness and collar. He was spotted Feb. 7 in the area of Juniper Drive off Post Road and was also seen in the soccer field on Stony Lane. Zorro also seems to gravitate to the Paul Bailey's Jeep dealership on Ten Rod Road.

Those who've seen Zorro said he appears to be a bit dirty and now has a limp. Volunteers have been canvassing the area since Saturday but have been unable to find him.

Zorro is very gentle, but afraid of people. He is a purebred Lhasa Apso, roughly 29 lbs. and four years old with a tan and white coat.

Zorro's foster family is offering a reward for Zorro's safe return. Contact Roie at 401-234-4499.

Zorro was spotted yesterday in the industrial park off of All American Way yesterday morning at 11:30am. But when he was approached, he ran into the woods. He was then seen last night (2/8/2012) on South Road near Old Baptist Road. We think he is making his way via the trails under the power lines or worse, on the train tracks! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CALL US IF YOU SEE HIM!

Heidi, if folks see him and want to make an attempt to apprehend him for you, do you have any special tips to share in terms of his treat favorites or surefire ways to make him feel secure when humans attempt to approach him?

If you see him, please call our number 401.234.4499 right away. We have volunteers continuing to canvas the areas daily. PLEASE DO NOT straight up call his name and approach him. He will run! This is the reason he has remained on th loose for so long.....If you think he is in a spot where he isn't in danger of running into the road and injuring himself, you can try to toss him small pieces of food without making eye contact with him to build his trust. He used to never eat people food, but the poor baby was spotted eating at a dumpster last night (heartbreaking!) so, we are thinking that any type of food will get his attention at this point. We can not thank the community enough for the help and awareness they are giving to this little guy! Please keep those eyes open so we can get him home safely today!!!!

This morning Zorro was spotted by a wonderful North Kingstown resident. We were already in the area making our morning rounds looking for him. Thanks to her tip we were able to respond quickly. He had ran into a yard on Old Baptist Road that was fenced in, but the gate was open a bit. We converged on the yard, closed the gate and eventually got him. He is safe!!! He has been to the vets already and is now at the groomers. Other than being covered in ticks, he is in pretty good shape.

On behalf of Friends of Homeless Anmials, INC, I want to thank all of the people in this community that took an active role in helping us get to him. Your calls and your vigiliance with your sightings were able to help us track him.

To the businesses in Wickford and along Post Road and South County Trail, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for letting us put up Zorro's story in your stores.

It was that awareness that led to so many people on the lookout for him. You should all take pride in the truly wonderful community you live and work in.

It was an impressive show of humanity to say the least. We thank you and Zorro thanks you!!!!
